“Side Story in the South : Japanese - Dutch East Indies War” is based on two little-known, real-life Indonesians: a servant who worked on Dejima* in Nagasaki during the Edo period, and a female painter who gained status and became famous under Japanese colonial period.
How did the relationship of occupation between Indonesia, the Netherlands, and Japan affect him/her and how did he/she have to live within it? Through 3DCG animation and drawings trace the historical background of those days when the colonial situation was prevalent, from a current perspective.
